In my personal work the essence of time and how sound can influence the perception of the listener is very important. Because of this I work a lot with long sustained tones and slow, almost unnoticeable, changes. Aside from that I also love it when there are random, unexpected, sounds some people would consider as mistakes - this because it reflects life which isn’t always about roses either.

This is the reason I loved working with the recordings from Aeternus, where aside from the deep intense organ sounds you can also hear things happening in the church where it was recorded. To make sure I could create a new work with these sounds and incorporate both the slow changes and “mistakes”, I decided to cut the piece in to smaller chunks and used every sudden change as a new starting point.

From the new chunks I filtered certain frequency ranges where you could hear really interesting things happening, and with these I composed this new version, or rework if you want. During the composition process I didn’t stick to the logical build up but found my own combination of sounds. In the arrangement of the sound I tried to incorporate both my own specific sound, while also keeping the characteristics of the organ. So you hear long sustained sounds which go on for almost the whole work, while there are also some melodic elements from the original work. And of course the unexpected background noises.
