about

Rued Langgaard (1893 - 1952) was an outstanding Danish composer even though he must be considered to be one of the "outsiders" of the history of music. His fate is was to be neither understood nor taken seriously by his contemporaries. Langgaard did not follow the musical trends of the 20th century but kept to his late romantic and symbolistic point of origin.

I grew up in the house of where Langgaard lived and have therefore always been curious about who he was. So when Touch asked me to do a piece inspired by the organ, it became obvious for me to do something with him. Rued Langgaard composed operas, string quartets, symphonies and did works for church organ. I have chosen to be inspired by some of his organ works by sampling pieces of them and modulating them. I was also inspired by an ironic title in one of his compositions, "Preludio Patetico", turning this tribute into an EPILUDIO PATETICO.
